patna: a division bench of the patna high court — comprising justice nagendra rai and justice rs garg — stopped the payment for purchase of computers worth rs 2 crore by the district administration and also severely reprimanded it for the irregularities. the patna deputy development commissioner (ddc) was present in the courtroom with the computer purchase records.
however, it may be mentioned that the district administration has already paid 90 per cent of the total amount as the advance money. the counsel for a computer company, agsoft, claiming to have quoted the lowest tender, ibrahim kabir, stated that the administration awarded the tender to abc computers illegally, as the rates of the latter firm were higher than the one quoted by his clients. he submitted that his clients had quoted the computers of the top-most companies and that its quality could be questioned. he also stressed that his company had supplied computers to the district administration earlier also, which was functioning satisfactorily, adding that this awarding of contract is not above board.
